The Fourth Law Unveils Zerov-8: A Game-Changing Autonomous Interceptor Against Shaheds

Ukrainian defense company The Fourth Law has officially introduced the Zerov-8, an autonomous interceptor designed to effectively counter enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system's standout feature is its autonomous detection, which allows it to identify targets at distances 2-3 times greater than comparable systems.

Technical Specifications of the Zerov-8

Designed as a Tailsitter (a vertical take-off and landing interceptor model), the craft combines the speed of a missile with the maneuverability of a drone:

  • Maximum Speed: 326 km/h (capable of intercepting targets moving up to 270 km/h).

  • Combat Radius: Up to 20 km.

  • Warhead: Up to 0.5 kg.

  • Deployment Time: Vertical takeoff (climb achieved in 30 seconds).

  • Optics: Day or thermal camera, depending on the mission.

TFL Anti-Shahed Detection Module

The Zerov-8 is equipped with the TFL Anti-Shahed detection module, specifically designed for use against enemy aerial targets like the "Shahed." Its key features include:

  • AI Analysis: The system autonomously detects drones by analyzing object movement, thermal signatures, and other parameters using AI.

  • Target Tracking: Once detected, the system "highlights" the target and maintains stable tracking, operating in parallel without interfering with the flight path. The pilot independently selects the approach direction.

  • Integration: The module is installed onboard alongside a thermal camera (typically the Kurbas-640 Beta), flight controller, or video transmitter.

"The most critical part of an autonomous interceptor isn't just the moment of impact, but the detection itself. We have trained the system to see targets where the human eye or standard sensors fail. This gives us precious time and distance for maneuvers – the difference between an intercepted Shahed and one that hits its target on the ground," says Yaroslav Azhnyuk, founder and CEO of The Fourth Law.

A New Standard of Autonomy

Unlike traditional systems, the Zerov prioritizes maximum automation. The interceptor's effectiveness is rooted in its detection system:

  • Detection Range: Up to 1 km in ideal (high-contrast) conditions and up to 300 m in challenging weather.

  • The Advantage: Autonomous data processing allows the system to "see" the enemy significantly earlier than a human operator can.

Currently, the Zerov-8 is undergoing final full-cycle autonomous interception testing.

Smart Interception and Automation

In the future, the Zerov interceptor will integrate with external radars to automatically calculate interception trajectories. The software suite is designed to minimize the impact of human error:

  • Data Automation: The interceptor receives coordinates from Skyguard systems or ground control stations.

  • Resilience: The system includes fail-safes for loss of signal, which is critical when operating under Electronic Warfare (EW) conditions.

  • Precision: Upon reaching a 500-meter radius from the target, the interceptor enters a guaranteed lock-on zone for the final strike.

Cultural Heritage and Legacy

Following the tradition of its sister company, Odd Systems, The Fourth Law names its equipment (such as Kurbas cameras and Stus, Lupynis, and Horska drones) after prominent figures of the "Executed Renaissance" and the "Sixtiers" Ukrainian intellectuals of the 20th century who were persecuted and murdered by the Soviet regime.

The Zerov-8 interceptor is named after Mykola Zerov, a leader of the "Neoclassicists," a poet, translator, and intellectual. In the 1930s, Zerov faced intense persecution, was arrested, sentenced to labor camps, and eventually executed on November 3, 1937, at the Sandarmokh clearing in Karelia.
